The delicate balance of Scotch whiskey offered by Amrut is a proven choice of many liquor connoisseurs due to its characteristic taste. The drink is manufactured and sold by Amrut Distilleries Ltd., based in Kambipura, Bangalore, India. The company is a family business founded in 1948, but the whiskey was launched in 1984. It also manufactures many other variants of Indian whiskies that are more popular in the local market. The company is a major supplier to the Canteen Stores Department (CSD), and its single malt is exported to more than 22 countries worldwide.
The bold taste of this drink is quite appealing to many drinkers due to its richness. Amrut Scotch Whisky offers unusually dry peat on the nose associated with great peeks absorbed by an old leather armchair. The smell also has a hint of citrus that can be quite attractive to any discernible drinker. The immediate taste of the product is very similar to sugar molasses, and then the peat notes pick up from thereon. As the taste gets more forceful, the experience can become slightly spicier and drier, although the molasses do not give away.
The finish of Amrut Single Malt conveys the quality of the distillate and the casks that it has been matured in from the crystalline depth till the end. Everything is smooth on the palate, and the butterscotch vanilla flavour wraps the phenols to produce a comfortable and clean finale. The product is made from 75 per cent unpeated Indian barley and 25 per cent Scottish peated barley. The liquor is matured in ex-Bourbon or new casks, followed by final maturation in Sherry casks imported from Portugal and Spain.
It is a fruity, tropical whiskey that contains 46 per cent alcohol by volume (ABV), so the concentration is quite uniform throughout the drink. Each sip of the drink will help live up to its character and enjoy all its chosen ingredients. The whiskey comes in a hard glass bottle packaging of 700-ml capacity and is neatly packed to retain the freshness for a long time. It can easily be kept at home without refrigeration to enjoy the distinct taste whenever needed.
Amrut Whisky is a product of intense research as the malted barley is mixed with water and secured in water-cooled stainless steel fermenters by keeping the temperature within 28-degrees Celsius. The process of fermentation lasts for six days and uses commercial yeast. The fermented product is then pumped into a 5,000-liter semi-conical wash to slow distillation for 14 hours. Therefore, scotch enthusiasts get marvellously distilled liquor made with intense care. Hence, if you want authentic Indian Scotch, it is a brand that must be procured.
