Since 1960, Malaysia's Yit Foh Tenom has been the state's primary coffee grower. It is Sabah's oldest coffee firm, founded by Mr Yong Loong Vun in the Tenom district. They only utilise 100% genuine Robusta coffee beans grown in Tenom. The Robusta beans are roasted over a wood-burning stove to bring out their full flavour. Wood-fired roasting is unique to Yit Foh, the only coffee facility in Sabah that does so. They have thus far resisted the use of machines in the roasting process. The methods for roasting and selecting beans haven't changed significantly in 50 years.
